There was marked outflow of funds from bond ETFs this week as the Australian bond ETF sector contracted by 0.2%. Vanguard’s Australian Fixed Interest Index ETF (ASX code: VAF) and the iShares UBS Composite Bond (ASX code: IAF) both suffered investor outflows but the surprise of the week was the withdrawal of funds from iShares UBS Government Inflation (ASX code: ILB). This may indicate investors think yields, both nominal and real, are going higher.
