Last week saw very little change in fund flows but the general increase in funds under management was in the order of 0.9% across funds in the survey which was a little higher than the 0.7% increase recorded the week before. The Russell Australian Government Bond ETF recorded the highest percentage inflow and was also the recipient of the largest inflow in absolute terms.

Canada may introduce ETF requirements for advisers
The Mutual Funds Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) is seeking to introduce standards for advisers wishing to transact in exchange-traded funds. Currently, mutual fund licensed representatives can trade in exchange-traded funds which meet the definition of a mutual fund under Canadian securities legislation. In 2014 the Canadian ETF Association and others involved in this area provided an industry solution to make ETFs more accessible to investors. The MFDA proposes mutual fund advisers “receive training on information about characteristics and features of ETFs, as well as, training on how ETFs will be offered”.
