US MARKET
U.S. stock markets closed on a positive note. The Dow Jones Industrial Average remained unchanged at 41,250.50, while the S&P 500 climbed by 0.2% to 5,625.80. The Nasdaq also advanced by 0.2%, finishing at 17,754.82.
Among the S&P 500 constituents, the top gainers were ResMed Inc., which surged 7.26%, Insulet Corp., up 6.58%, and Royal Caribbean Group, increasing by 4.30%.
On the downside, the largest decliners included Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., which fell 8.82%, Paramount Global, down 7.00%, and Martin Marietta Materials Inc., decreasing by 4.57%.
LOCAL MARKET
Australian shares are set to open lower, with ASX futures down 0.36% or 29 points as of 8:00 AM on Wednesday. U.S. stocks edged higher as traders awaited Nvidia’s earnings, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both up 0.2%, and the Dow flat.
In commodities, Brent crude dropped 1.9% to US$79.85 per barrel, while gold held steady at US$2,525.26. The Australian dollar rose to 67.92 US cents, up from 67.71.
