LOCAL MARKET

Australian shares are set to open higher as US traders adopted a cautious approach ahead of Wednesday’s rate decision, focusing on blue-chip companies. ASX futures were up 0.65% (53 points) at 8:00am on Tuesday, signalling a positive open.

US traders are increasingly betting the Federal Reserve will start cutting interest rates significantly. On Monday, US derivatives markets indicated a 60% chance of a half-point rate cut on Wednesday, up from 50-50 odds on Friday and just 14% earlier last week, according to CME Group data.
