US MARKET
U.S. stocks closed lower today. The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 0.2%, ending at 40,834.97, the S&P 500 fell 0.2% to 5,597.12, and the Nasdaq dropped 0.3%, closing at 17,816.94.
In the S&P 500, the biggest gainers were Palo Alto Networks Inc, which surged 7.18%, Darden Restaurants Inc, which rose 3.65%, and PayPal Holdings Inc, which increased by 3.54%.
Conversely, the largest decliners included Insulet Corp, which fell 6.87%, DexCom Inc, down 6.24%, and Valero Energy Corp, which dropped 4.68%.
LOCAL MARKET
Australian shares are expected to open lower following a dip in major U.S. indexes. ASX futures were down 0.55% or 44 points at 8:00am Wednesday.
U.S. stock indices paused their recent gains, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average each falling 0.2%, and the Nasdaq Composite dropping 0.3%.
In commodities, Brent crude oil declined 0.6% to $77.20 a barrel, while gold remained steady at $2,514.52. The Australian dollar was at 67.43 US cents, down slightly from 67.46.
