Summary: Large number of rate changes; 80 increases, 1 decrease; notable changes made by Arab Bank, BankVic; AMP Bank offers highest rate in survey.
There were a large number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 81 changes which took place, 80 took the form of rate increases.
One of the major banks changes its term deposit rates. NAB increased its 1-year rate by 50bps.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came from the Arab Bank Australia. All of its rates were increased, ranging from a 20bps rise on its 2-month deposit to 100 bps rise on its 4-month deposit. Rates on terms of 1 year and longer were raised by amounts ranging from 30bps to 50bps.
BankVic’s changes were almost as broad but they were also a lot more uniform. Its rates on terms from 3 months out were all raised by 45bps each with the exception of the 1-year deposit which was increased by 90bps.
