Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 7 reductions, 22 increases; one change from NAB; notable changes from Great Southern, Bank of Sydney; highest rate in survey remains at 5.25%.
There were a modest number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) again in this week’s YieldReport survey. Seven of the 22 changes took the form of rate increases.
One of the major banks changed its term-deposit rates; NAB increased its 1-year rate by 10bps.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable set of changes came from Great Southern. Its 5-month rate was hiked by 215bps while rates on its 3-month, 6-month and 12-month terms were reduced by amounts ranging from 25bps to 45bps.
Other notable changes were made by the Bank of Sydney. Its 9-month and 12-month rates were lowered by 25bps and 50bps respectively.
Changes made other ADIs were all pretty modest.
