Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 3 reductions, 7 increases; changes from Greater Bank, Newcastle Permanent, Horizon; highest rate in survey at 5.25%.
There were a modest number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) again in this week’s YieldReport survey. Seven of the ten changes took the form of rate increases.
None of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most noticeable set of changes came from Greater Bank. It raised its 3-month rate by 25bps and its 6-month and 1-year rates were increased by 30bps each.
Greater Bank sibling, Newcastle Permanent, raised its 6-month and 1-year rates were increased by 30bps each but left its 3-month rate unchanged.
Horizon Credit’s changes went in the opposite direction. It lowered its 3-month, 6-month and 1-year rates by 10bps, 20bps and 10bps respectively.
