Summary: Small number of rate changes; 5 reductions, 5 increases; noteworthy changes from Defence Bank, Bank of Melbourne, Police Bank; highest rate in survey unchanged at 5.10%.
There were a small number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) again in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the ten changes which occurred, five took the form of rate reductions.
None of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most noticeable set of changes in a very uneventful week came from Defence Bank. It lowered its 1-year and 2-year rates by 10bps and 40bps respectively.
The only other changes of note were a 25bsp cut to Bank of Melbourne’s 1-year rate and a 25bps increase to Police Bank’s 4-month rate.
