Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 8 reductions, 9 increases; noteworthy changes from Great Southern, Teachers Mutual; highest rate in survey unchanged at 5.10%.
There were a modest number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) again in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 17 changes which occurred, eight took the form of rate reductions.
None of the major banks changed its term-deposit rates.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most noticeable set of changes came from Great Southern Bank. It raised its 3-month by 70bps, its 9-month by 45bps and its 1-year rate by 30bps.
Teachers Mutual Bank went very much in the opposite direction. It cut its 9-month rate by 85bps and its 1-year rate by 25bps.
