Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 4 increases, 33 reductions; ANZ, NAB reduce 1-year rates; noticeable changes from Bankwest, BankVic, AMP, Macquarie; Bank of Sydney, ING Direct share highest rate in survey.
There were a moderate number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) over the Christmas/New Year period in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 37 changes which occurred, 33 took the form of rate reductions.
Two of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates. ANZ and NAB each reduced their 1-year rates by 15bps and 10bps respectively.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came Bankwest. Its 1-month and 2-month rates were increased by 75bps and 50bps respectively while its 1-year and 2-year rates were rates were lowered by 15bps and 45bps respectively.
Other changes of notes came from BankVic, AMP Bank and Macquarie.
