Summary: Very small number of rate changes this week; 2 increases, 6 reductions; noticeable rate changes made by Bank Australia; Bank of Sydney, ING Direct share highest rate in survey.
There were a very small number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 8 changes which took place, 6 were in the form of rate reductions.
None of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates this week.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came Bank Australia. Its 2-year and 3-year rates were both raised by 40bps.
The only other changes for the week came from Judo Bank. It reduced its rates on terms of 9 months out to 5 years by either 5bps or 10bps.
