Summary: Moderate number of rate changes this week; 34 increases, 4 reductions; Bank of Sydney, ING Direct, Judo has highest rate in survey.
There were a moderate number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 38 changes which took place, 34 were in the form of rate increases.
Three of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates this week. ANZ and NAB increased their 1-year rates by 30bps and 25bps respectively while Westpac reduced it 1-year rate by 75bps.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came from Teachers Mutual. Its 3-month, 4-month and 5-month rates were all raised by 240bps while its 6-month and 9-month rates were increased by 265bps and 290bps respectively. These change bringing TM’s rates more into line with the median rate for each term.
