Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 18 increases, 5 reductions; notable changes from Macquarie; AMP Bank, Bank of Sydney have highest rate in survey.
There were a modest number of changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 23 changes which took place, 18 were in the form of rate increases.
None of the major banks changed their term-deposit rates this week.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came from Macquarie Bank. Its 2-year rate was increased by 110bps, its 3-year and 4-year rates were each raised by 140bps while its 5-year rate was increased by 135bps. Rates on terms of 1- year and under were raised by amounts ranging from 10bps to 25bps.
