Summary: Moderate number of rate changes; 9 increases, 22 reductions; notable rate changes from Military Bank, Teachers Mutual; AMP Bank, Bank of Sydney have highest rate in survey.
There were a moderate number of changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 31 which occurred, 22 took the form of rate reductions.
One of the major banks changed its term-deposit rates this week. NAB lowered its 1-year rate by 10bps.
Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came from Military Bank. Its 4-month and 5-month rates were dropped by 130bps and 140bps respectively while its 2-year and 3-year rates were each cut by 90bps. At the same time its 6-month and 9-month rates were both raised by 85bps.
Teachers’ Mutual’s changes were much more limited but larger in magnitude. Its 6-month rate was slashed by 335bps while its 1-year rate was raised by 130bps.
