Sixth positive month of US retail sales

Sales at retailers and restaurants boosted US retail sales figures in August, offsetting falls of building materials, gardening equipment and furniture stores. The US Commerce Department released retail sales figures showing a 0.2% increase for the month, slightly less than the 0.3% expected and lower than the July figures which were revised up from 0.6% to 0.7% but never the less the sixth consecutive monthly rise.
