Summary: Modest number of rate changes; 19 reductions, 7 increases; Commonwealth Bank changes some rates; modest changes from a handful of others; highest rate in survey steady at 5.15%.
There were a moderate number of rate changes made by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 26 changes which occurred, 19 took the form of rate reductions.
One of the major banks changed its term-deposit rates this week and, once again, it was Commonwealth Bank. This time it cut its 9-month and 1-year rates each by 85bps. It also increased rates on its terms of 2 years and longer by 5bps, reversing the previous week’s modest changes.
Among the smaller ADIs, modest changes made were by Bank Australia, Bank of Queensland, Judo Bank, P&N Bank and ME Bank.
