Summary: Considerably more rate changes; Westpac and subsidiaries make identical changes, some rates higher, others lower; more notable changes made by AMP Bank, Judo; Judo offers highest rate in survey.

There were considerably more changes by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey. Of the 53 changes, 27 took the form of rate decreases.

One of the major banks changed its rates. Westpac trimmed its 3-month and 4-month rates by 3bps each and lowered its 5-month rate by 10bps. It also trimmed its 6-month rate by 5bps. However, rates on Westpac’s terms of 2 years and over were all raised by 5bps each. Additionally, Westpac’s subsidiaries, the Bank of Melbourne, Bank SA and St George bank all made identical changes.

Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes were made by AMP Bank. Its rates on terms from 4 months out to 5 years were raised by at least 20bps with the exception of its 2-year rate which was raised by a comparatively trifling 5bps.

Judo Bank went in the opposite direction. Its 3-month and 6-month rates were lowered by 16bps each, its 9-month rate was reduced by 18bps and its 1-year rate was cut by 20bps.
