Summary: More rate changes this week than for quite some time; AMP Bank raises most rates, ME Bank, P&N Bank lower theirs; Judo offers highest rate in survey.

There were more changes by banks, building societies and other approved deposit-taking institutions (ADIs) in this week’s YieldReport survey than there has been in quite some time. Of the 49 changes, 34 took the form of rate decreases. None of the major banks changed their rates.

Among the smaller ADIs, the most notable changes came from AMP Bank. AMP increased its 4-month rate by 5bps, its 9-month rate by 15bps and its 3-month rate by 25bps. Additionally, its rates on terms of 5 months, 6 months, 1 year and 2 years were all raised by 20bps.

Another notable set of changes came from ME Bank which moved its rates very much in the opposite direction. Its 1-month and 2-month rates were each trimmed by 5bps while terms of 3 months to 3 years all had their rates lowered by 10bps. Rates on 4 year and 5-year terms were each cut by 20bps.

P&N Bank’s changes were not quite as broad. Its 9-month rate was trimmed by 5bps, the 3-month rate was cut by 20bps while 1-year and 2-year rates were each reduced by 15bps. All other terms from 4-months to 5 years were lowered by 10bps each.
