Both the S&P 500 and Dow Industrials recorded their first weekly declines since early September, while the Nasdaq rose for the seventh week in a row.
This week, notable earnings reports are expected from major tech companies, including Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple. Key economic data, such as the October payrolls report, will also be in focus. The DJIA dropped 259 points, or 0.6%, to 42,114, the S&P 500 edged down by 1 point to 5,808, while the Nasdaq increased 0.6% to 18,518.
In commodities, Brent crude oil gained 2.3% to reach $76.05 per barrel, and gold rose 0.4% to $2,747.56. The Australian dollar was trading at 66.03 U.S. cents.
